Faculty of Arts Tutorial Signup System

This help page is intended for Lecturers to show how to setup tutorials for online signups.

To enter any of the "Administration Only" areas you will be prompted for a username and password. The username you need to enter is your windows logon username preceded by the name of the domain and your normal windows logon password. For example, Joe Bloggs would login using the name artsfleet\blogjo

For Students to enrol into a tutorial they need to do a "Register (First time)" to tell the system who they are. They only need do this once. From then on they can use the "Login" link to enter the system and enrol in tutorials. At some point in the future I will enable the system to use the students email username and password so they do not have to do a first time registration.

Adding a Tutorial

(Please note, When entering data try not to use any special characters, particuarly the & character)

To add a tutorial is very simple. BEFORE you add a tutorial you must FISRT add a course that the tutorials belong to.

If you click "Add Course"

Enter name of course

Enter the course code

Enter any special notices (these notices will be displayed when a student attempts to enrol in a Tut.)

Click Submit Button

You will then be taken immediately to the Add Tutorial page. Every course must have at least one Tutorial. There is no limit to the number of tutorials belonging to a course.

Enter the course code that the tutorial belongs to. You must enter this code exactly the same as you used in the previous page for adding the course.

Enter The Day,Time,Place for the Tutorial. (What you enter here will become the clickable link for students to enrol in)

Enter the max number of Students you want in the tutorial.

Topic Request ? is an option of Yes or No. Some tutorials require a talk topic to be given. If yes is selected there will be a space for the student to enter their talk topic when they select a tutorial to enrol

Active Now ? is an option of Yes or No. If you select yes then students can start enrolling in the tuts immediately. No is a good option if you want to enter your tutorials ahead of time but dont want students to start enroling. If you select No then it just takes a couple of minutes to come back and change the Tutorials to active.

Click "Add Tut to Course" to submit the tutorial

When you click this button the information you just entered will dissappear and be ready for you to enter the next tutorial time related to the same course. If there are no more tutorials for the course then leave the fields blank and just click FINISH.

This will then take you to the course listing page where you can see your handiwork.

Your Tutorials are now entered and ready for students to sign up (If you set the tutorial as active)

To Activate a Tutorial (if you selected no when entering the tutorial)

Click on "Activate a Tutorial"

This will show a list of all tutorials. Find your tutorial. Click on the Day,Time,Place of the tutorial and change the No to a Yes.

Change the Number of Students in a class.

Click on "Change Max Tut Size"

Deleting Tutorials and Courses.

You can delete Tutorials and Courses. You may need this is you enter a mistake for a tutorial or course. Alternatively you can choose "Edit Tutorial" to fix an error if you made a typo when entering a tutorial.

One thing to remember when deleting. Do not delete a course if it has tutorials associated with it. You must first remove tutorials. When you have removed all the tutorials associated with a course then you can remove the course.
