LATEST NEWS
Tuesday 12 August: I have made some small alterations to the course structure. Week 6 and
Week 7 have been switched – we are now looking at rap first and then
looking at censorship, because since rap and heavy metal have been subject to a
great deal of censorship it makes sense to use them as case studies for our
examination of censorship. So there are new readings up for Week 6, and the old
readings are now the readings for Week 7. Hope that doesn’t mess anyone
up!
Friday 1 August: Allocations for tutorial presentations are now up – go here
to see where you are. Almost everyone was given their first preference, and
everyone else got their second preference. However, there are still a lot of
people who are enrolled in the course but have either not enrolled in a tute or did not attend this week’s tute. These people will need to fit into one of the
remaining presentation times – first in best dressed, so get in contact
with me to arrange this!
On sober reflection I've also decided to ask that no one use
powerpoint. The reason for
this is that the timing is already very tight for these presentations, and from
past experience all it takes is for one person to have technical difficulties
with their presentation - and someone always does! - and
the whole schedule can be put out. I'm sorry if this puts anyone out, but I'll
still make sure people can play music for the class if they want.
Tuesday 15 July: The website is up and running, I hope.
At this stage, it is still a work in progress – all the most important
information about assessments, readings and lecture times should be accurate,
but I am still working on everything. If you come across a page that has a
green background, the information it contains will not be relevant to this
course!
