CLASS REPRESENTATIVES
University rules stipulate that each course nominate a student as Class Representative for School Committee meetings. School Committees, involving teaching staff and student representatives, make periodic decisions concerning course offerings in the School and other matters of interest to students.
The class representatives can also represent other students in the class if they have any problems with the course, the lecturers or tutors and do not wish to approach the Course Co-ordinator personally. This way, if you feel that there are any changes we can make to improve the course, we can modify things as we go, rather than finding out after the event.
Class representatives are also entrusted with representing the class when the Head of School calls a meeting of class representatives. This usually occurs at the end of the first half of the semester.
We will call for nominations for Class Representatives during the first lecture, and intoduce the volunteers to the class in the second week. If you would like to nominate yourself by email, please contact Alastair. This year, given the estimated class numbers, I would like at least two class representatives.
Details of your class representatives will be posted below.

If you have problems concerning a course you are taking, it is best in the first
instance to speak directly to the lecturer concerned. You can also take up your
concerns with the Head of School. Many courses and programs have student representatives,
and you may find it useful to direct your concerns via them. The ANU Students’
Association (ANUSA) has two Student Representatives in the College of Arts and
Social Sciences who can help you with problems or concerns that you may have
with your course or degree. They can help you by talking to lecturers or tutors
on your behalf, help you address your concerns with assessment, and give you
advice about appeals procedures. They also sit on a number of College Committees,
so let them know if you have complaints or suggestions for improvement about
your courses or about facilities and services more generally.
You can contact them by emailing them at arts.facrep@anu.edu.au or visit the
ANUSA website for more information http://sa.anu.edu.au.
ANU Students’ Association (ANUSA)
• ANUSA is the representative body of undergraduate students on campus. Two elected RSSS representatives sit on ANUSA.
• Your Arts Faculty representatives are advocates within the College for student concerns, particularly on academic issues. They sit on College Committees, including the Education Committee, and can also liaise with the College regarding student appeals.
• If you would like to contact your Arts Faculty representatives, please e-mail arts.facrep@anu.edu.au
• The ANUSA website is http://www.sa.anu.edu.au.
