The APSA 50 conference in October 2002 represented a special achievement for political scientists in Australia: fifty years of scholarly conferences and discussion of political science.
APSA conferences have always showcased the diversity of perspectives among political scientists, and the breadth of political science as a discpline, and APSA 50 was no different.
To mark its 50th year the APSA 50 conference included
assessments of Australia’s particular contributions to political studies, including
panels on:

and the High Court (Brian Galligan)
l communism
and the Soviet Union (Leslie Holmes)
Keynote speakers included:

David Farrell (Manchester University)
Iain McLean (Oxford University)
Richard Sakwa (University of Kent at Canterbury)
