APSA50 conference

This page contains a complete list of all refereed papers from the APSA50 conference, held at the Australian National University, Canberra, in October 2002.

The papers are listed in alphabetical order by author's name, with links to the papers themselves, to the presenter's original abstract, and to details of the conference stream in which the paper was situated.

†To view these files you need Adobe Acrobat, which is available for download free of charge from Adobe.
NOTE: when printing a pdf file, make sure that "fit to page" is unchecked in the printing dialogue box. All the pdf documents are exactly A4, but if you fail to uncheck "fit to page", the pages will be reduced by around 5%.

These papers were published in December 2002, by the Australasian Political Studies Association (APSA). Copyright remains with the authors. They were all refereed in line with the requirements of the Australian government's Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST). A description of the refereeing process is here.

Some non-refereed papers given at the conference are available on this website here.

Refereeing process

The refereeing process followed was in accordance with DEST guidelines. A panel of referees was chosen from the academic community, and external to the conference organising committee. Each paper submitted for refereeing was submitted as a blind (unidentifiable) copy. Written appraisals were received from each referee for each paper. Papers requiring revision were returned to authors for the required changes. At no time were referees informed of the identities of the authors whose papers they were assessing.
