of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens

To continue as a Friend or to become a Friend for the calendar year 2008

You are warmly invited to support the Institute and particularly the Canberra Scholarship to Greece through the local Friends group in 2008. Support by means of a donation, which is tax-deductible, is very much appreciated.
In Canberra the Friends hold a series of illustrated lectures on Greek archaeology and culture (all at no charge) and an end-of-year dinner, usually at the Hellenic Club of Canberra. Speakers include the AAIA’s Visiting Professor.
Visitors to Greece may be assisted by the Institute’s staff in Athens and may stay at the Institute’s hostel, a modern apartment situated below the Acropolis with a magnificent view of the Parthenon.
The Friends’ donations are used primarily for a scholarship, awarded normally every two years, to assist students from the Canberra region whose archaeological or other research requires a prolonged stay in Greece. This scholarship has been generously enhanced in recent years through the sponsorship of the Hellenic Club of Canberra, enabling us to provide the scholar also with a substantial allowance towards living and research expenses.
