“Colin Groves… has a special interest in Perissodactyla, of which he reckons there are sixteen living wilf species (seven equids, four tapirs, five rhinos), and is delighted to report that he has seen living examples of every one; the moment when he finally notched up number sixteen (Rhinoceros sondaicus) was very nearly his last, owing to an unaccountable fit of animosity on the part of the perissodactyl in question”.
