Four species of zebras: Equus zebra, E.hartmannae, E.quagga, E.grevyi. We discuss the status of "true quagga" and "true Burchell's zebra". The most definitive boundary within Equus quagga is not between the "true quagga" and the rest, but between northern and southern groups of subspecies, approximately at the Zambezi.
