The Anglican baptism records have the baptism in 1704 of Mary, the daughter of John and Mary SHEPHERD. I believe that this is a too late to be the same couple who were presented in 1682. Therefore, I have created another John SHEPHERD, with a wife Mary, and assigned the second as the son of the first. Burial records should clarify this.1

This would be why no father was listed on her marriage certificate. It is assumed that Robert CARTER was her father, as he apparently married her mother within a few months of her birth, although no marriage record has been located. There are many assumptions in this particular part of the family, and this should be reviwed each time new data is acquired.
