The children are not named, but are identified on the basis of other relationships. It is possible that he was not the son of Francis Shepherd, but he is the best fit.

The 1841 census gives his birthplace as Dorset, but I believe that this is incorrect.¹

There is no solid proof, but note that #3853 had no other son called Martin, which would have been unusual. If he is correctly indentified, then #11224 married his first cousin. Note that in the 1841 census he gave his birthplace as Dorset. #3853 was living in Stourton in 1751. Perhaps the younger one was mistaken?
