Dorothy was bur. 18 Oct 1848 Kilmington so could it be the same Richard that m. Ann AUSTIN née WHITE, 8 Nov 1849 Salisbury? If so what happened to the above children after Dorothy died? Well in 1851 they were living together in Kilmington Common with their uncle Edward MARSH so that would explain why they were not with Richard and his new wife. However, there was another Frederick, s. of Richard & Ann, b. 1857/8 which is a bit odd as Richard had already named a son Frederick with Dorothy. It looks as if he died in 1854 in Kilmington so reusing the name would have been quite normal. Remember that Butchers were often also Farmers so the apparent change of occupation for Richard would be acceptable.

So I conclude that:-

Hannah CREES m. William BROWN 23 Oct 1800 Marston Bigot. He was bur. 31 Mar 1814 East Woodlands, aged 37.

Richard GULLIFORD married
1. Dorothy MARSH 5 Oct 1829 Kilmington. She was bur. 18 Oct 1844 Kilmington, aged 48.
2. Ann WHITE 8 Nov 1849 St Thomas's, Salisbury. She died Jun qtr 1880 Wincanton dist., aged 63.

There are a few loose ends. I now have Richard GULLIFORD born 1791 to 1811, depending on which census I refer to. I don't know where he was born. Was it Mendip (1851 C) or Kilmington (1861 C). I don't know when or where he was baptised or who his parents were.
