His parents resided in the parish of How, Norfolk. Has a wife, Elizabeth and a son, John, aged one year nine months.

2 Apr 1784 Mathew GAUNT's father was then interviewed at How. He said that his son belongs in How. He have (sic) a wife and child there in the Industry House. He was married in the year 1777 but never lived with her since. She has had a child since.5
