Professor Robert Bowker
Dr
Robert Bowker, a specialist on the Middle East, has been appointed
as Adjunct Professor at CAIS for 2008-2009. Prior to his appointment,
he served with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT),
with his last posting as Australian Ambassador to Egypt. At different
periods in his diplomatic career, he served as Director, External
Relations and Public Information, and subsequently Senior Adviser,
Policy Research, of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for
Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Gaza and Jerusalem;
Director of Staff of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies
at the Australian Defence College, Canberra and Visiting Reader at
CAIS. Dr Bowker is the author of Palestinian Refugees: Mythology,
Identity and the Search for Peace (Lynne Rienner, 2003); Beyond
Peace: the Search for Security in the Middle East (Lynne Rienner,
1996). |
