AUSTRALIA IN THE MIDDLE EAST & CENTRAL ASIA WORKSHOP
Australia in The Middle East & Central Asia Workshop
The Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (ANU), the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy (ANU) and the Centre for Muslim Minorities & Islam Policy Studies (Monash University) held a two day workshop to examine ‘Australia in the Middle East and Central Asia: Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan’, on 21-22 November 2007. Leading experts on Australian foreign and strategic policy attended the workshop to discuss issues central to Australia’s military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as possible engagement in any operation against Iran. The workshop was convened by A/Prof Shahram Akbarzadeh (Monash University) and Dr Hossein Moghaddam (CAIS). Attendees were drawn from government agencies, diplomatic missions, think-tanks and universities.
