Afghanistan: Where to From Here?

SPEAKERS:

Ambassador Amanullah Jayhoon has a BA (Hons) in Islamic Studies with an emphasis on comparative religions and Arabic studies from the Islamic University of Islamabad, Pakistan. He completed his postgraduate studies in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Science and Technology in Peshawar, Pakistan. He also holds an MA (Ed) in Education Administration from the University of Nebraska. He joined government service as chief of staff of Afghanistan’s Presidential office in 1992 . He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in 1993. Prior to his appointment as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Australia, he had postings in Turkey, Austria, Germany and Malaysia.

 

Professor William Maley is Director of the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy at the Australian National University. He is the author of Rescuing Afghanistan (Sydney: UNSW Press, 2006); The Afghanistan Wars (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2002); he is also the editor of Fundamentalism Reborn? Afghanistan and the Taliban (New York: New York University Press, 1998, 2001).
