Please note that as of mid-2005 the web pages of the Vanuatu Cultural Centre are now located at http://www.vanuatuculture.org.
The material on these pages comes from a book produced by the Vanuatu Cultural Centre in 1996 called Storian blong olgeta we oli bin go katem sugaken long Ostrelia. The National Museum of Vanuatu produced this book as part of a visiting exhibition by the National Maritime Museum of Australia. The exhibition, called 'Australian South Sea Islanders' came to Vanuatu in September and October 1996. The photographs in this book come from the Vanuatu Museum's archives, as well as from the National Library of Australia. We thank them for their kind permission to reproduce the work. We also acknowledge the help of the Australian High Commission in Vanuatu and the South Pacific Cultures Fund in getting copies of the photos into the Vanuatu collection. | The funds to produce this material were provided by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. We especially thank Kirk Huffman for writing the introduction to this book. Thanks go to everyone who helped to produce this book: Jean-Paul Batick, Regina Batick, Sero Kuautonga, Lewia Norman, Ralph Regenvanu, Jenny Tasale, Nick Thieberger, Martha Yamsiu. Translated from the Bislama by Nick Thieberger. |
