![]() | VCC Fieldworkers' programme |
| The Vanuatu Cultural Centre has some 80 volunteer
fieldworkers around the country. The men's
programme began in 1977, and the women's in 1994. These workers collect information about their local cultures and record it using various media. They meet together in Vila once every year to discuss a prepared topic. | These discussions are then transcribed and produced as a report of the workshop and are an important resource on issues as varied as land ownership, use of pigs, fish and their importance in everyday life, grade-taking, and rituals associated with death. |
