June 1999. Archaeology World was nominated for the fourth annual Australian Financial Review/Telstra Australian Internet Awards. It is the premier competition for acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of Australian talent and expertise on the Internet. Intriguingly it has been put up in the "Science and Technology Site" category rather that the "Educational Site" one. A Science and technology nomination is for "...a site which facilitates access to, encourages involvement in, or provides information about scientific or non-Internet related technologies in areas such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, broadcasting, engineering, etc". The awards will be announced on 31 August 1999, but even a nomination is welcome support.
March 1998. Archaeology World given the CRITICAL MASS AWARD: "In appreciation of the talent and effort required to construct and maintain an entertaining, useful Website".
AUSTRALIAN PC USER published a School PC Australia review of Archaeology World in its October 1997 edition (page 16). This review of the 12 "Hot history sites" had this to say about Archaeology World:
Dig at Archaeology World for information on stone artefacts, Australian and Pacific archaeology, online articles, prehistoric Australian Artefacts and Jinmium Rock Art.
1st October, 1997: The Australian Broadcasting Corporation included Archaeology World as one of their "Cool science sites on the web", with a description that:
This site contains information about archaeology / prehistory in Australia and the Pacific, including the homepage of the Vanuatu National Museum.
January, 1998: The Australian Netguide Magazine (Issue 1, 1998) reviewed Archaeology World with a description that:
Archaic Find out interesting archaeological facts about Australia and our neighbours, and examine some prehistoric Australian artifacts at this site.
