Information on hotels

For the Hanoi conference, delegates are advised to book their hotels through the Hanoi Secretariat, at ippa2009@vnn.vn. Please send them your requirements. You may also contact the hotels listed below by yourself.

If you run out of ideas from the list below, we suggest you Google "hotels hoan kiem hanoi", which will bring up large numbers of relatively cheap (ca. $20 per night single) hotels in the tourist part of old Hanoi, north of Hoan Kiem lake. If you stay here you will have to take taxis everyday to get to and from VASS, but they are not expensive and most have meters.

All rates are for rooms, not individual beds, so sharing a room is one way to reduce costs. All hotels serve breakfast. Most have internet facilities. Some hotels are a good exercise walk from the conference venue, but taxis are easy to find and cheap in Hanoi. Please note that many smaller hotels will not take credit cards and will ask for cash. You are advised to check this on arrival. At present (early October) the US$ is worth about 17,830 Vietnam dong (VND), but the rate changes daily.

The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences building in which the meetings will be held is at the intersection of Lieu Giai and Doi Can streets, Ba Dinh District (about 3 km west of Hanoi old town). This location can be found in Google maps.

1. La Thanh Hotel

This is a very large hotel with middle range facilities including restaurants close to the conference venue. It is frequently used for large government meetings, so it may be full. We cannot get precise information on this, but you can always ask.

Tariff: US$35 to $50 per night per standard room, including breakfast. Each room has twin beds, and some have up to 5 beds. This means that sharing will cost from US$15-25 per person per night, depending on the facilities chosen. The $50 rooms have internet access, which is also available in the lobby.

This hotel is sometimes used for large government functions, so we cannot be certain that it will be available for the conference dates. About 7 minutes walk from VASS Convention Center.
