EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor of Science Honours (NTU): This was awarded as a First Class with the thesis title Like, -- But Oh How Different: Stone Point Variability in the Top End N.T. The research topic dealt with stone tool variability, spatial variation and its effect on typology, utilising digital image processing.

Bachelor of Science (NTU): This consisted of a double major in Archaeology/Anthropology and a minor in Earth Science.

Earth Sciences Award (NTU): 1992 awarded the Northern Territory University Earth Sciences award.

During my time with the Police Service, I have worked in a variety of Sections and geographic localities throughout the Northern Territory.

These Sections and localities have included General Duties Casuarina, Darwin, Adelaide River, Pine Creek, and Groote Eylandt. OIC Missing Persons Section, CIB Darwin and Information Bureau Darwin. IJIS (Integrated Justice Information System) Work Group, Headquarters Darwin and the Operational Computer Systems Administration Team. IJIS Administrator (on secondment) at the Office of Courts Administration.

At present, I am stationed in the Information Services Unit of the NT Police Service where commissioned a corporate Intranet. Whilst in ISU I have also performed the duties of Acting Director of Information Services Unit, NT Police Service, Security Manager NT Police Fire & Emergency Services computer network and IJIS Administrator.


Archaeological Consultancies


Chinese Mine Sites – Northern Territory: Field assistant to Dr S. Mitchell of Heritage Surveys in an extended site survey of mine sites throughout the Northern Territory.

Middle Point Shell Middens NT: field assistant to Ms. Sally Brockwell in survey and excavation of Shell Midden site around Darwin Harbour.

Bayview Haven Housing Estate NT: field assistant to Dr P. Hiscock in the survey, excavation and analysis of fauna and artefacts from midden sites, Darwin.

NT Museum – Dupe Collection: analysis and curation of Dupe Collection (consisting of Adelaide River, Marrakai River, Hardies Creek and Mary River 5 & 5A sites) at the Museum and Art Gallery of the N.T. Darwin.

Palmerston Subdivision: field assistant to Dr S. Mitchell, survey of proposed housing subdivision.

Humpty Doo Subdivision: field assistant to Dr S. Mitchell, survey of proposed housing subdivision.

Wave Hill to Djargarju Survey: field assistant to Dr S. Mitchell, survey of proposed Telstra Fibre Optic Cable route.

Camfield River – Site Rescue: field assistant, preliminary research and curation of rescued collection of prehistoric stone tools. Collection prepared and lodged with NT Museum.

Port Arthur Stables: preparation of digital building plans for Dr. S. Mitchell of Heritage Surveys.

Fogg Dam and Shoal Bay Survey: consultant archaeologist for development survey of Department of Defence areas.

Alice Springs – Hermannsburg Survey: field assistant and preliminary research to Dr S. Mitchell. Survey 125 km between Alice Springs and Hermannsburg for proposed Telstra Fibre Optic Cable.

Fogg Bay Road: consultant archaeologist for road re-alignment of Fogg Bay road.

Working on the projects and surveys listed above I have gained practical experience in a range of archaeological skills. The following list itemises the major elements.

  • Variety of survey strategies and need to maintain flexible approach.
  • Excavation techniques for a variety of site types.
